Italian auto parts manufacturer and Cir group subsidiary, Sogefi, has opened a new suspension components plant in Pune, India.

The new 12,000m2 Chakan plant will produce stabilizer bars and torsion bars, which are the two essential parts of suspension systems, for cars and commercial vehicles.

Sogefi has also doubled the capacity of its facility producing filter systems in Bangalore, which is its joint venture with local partner MNR.

Cir chief executive, Sogefi chairman Rodolfo De Benedetti said strengthening the company's industrial position with the completion of these two plants will enable to speed up its growth process in a car market.

"This initiative is in line with Sogefi's strategy of increasing its presence in markets outside Europe while maintaining its traditional leadership in Europe," Benedetti added.

"Over the next three years the group aims to generate around 50% of its total revenues outside Europe."

Initially, the new facility will deliver products to Tata, Mahindra, FIAT and Piaggio, further the company will increase its production to supply Indian plants and facilities in Asia-Pacific region which include General Motors, Renault-Nissan and Ford.
